I changed my ignition coils to delphi aftermarket ones and the idle is nice and smooth now. But the old ones had like 200k km on them.

Pros: idle is nice and smooth
Mileage: 200000 km

HITACHI Ignition coil

If you do replace a coil, go with OEM or quality aftermarket parts. Cheap coils cause new problems. The Hitachi coils on RockAuto are probably alright.

Pros: quality aftermarket parts
Cons: cheap coils cause problems

I got the coil conversion kit from import car parts and GD 2.0l coils. The new age coils needed to be trimmed a little from the edges to fit. I bought hitachi coils instead of oem diamond ones and saved a lot of money. They work perfectly.

Pros: work perfectly, saved money
Cons: needed to be trimmed

DELPHI Ignition coil

I don’t like the Delphi ones cause they come apart, if you do spark plugs again say 20k miles passes you could deal with the silicone tube on the end getting stuck down when pulling them, then you gotta be careful and get the spring and that out without the spring flying off somewhere.

Cons: come apart, silicone tube stuck
Mileage: 20000 km

The auto shop found out what the problem was as they had replaced two of the ignition coils with OEM and two from a company that produced the ignition coils for Mazda. The two from the company (Delphi) went bad. I have to use only parts from Mazda.

Cons: went bad
Vehicle: Mazda
