It doesnt hurt to shorten the oil changes .My colorado is 7500 miles .I do it at 5000 miles. They say highway miles are easier your not doing stops and starts .However your still doing revolutions and run time.

My corvette was supposed to run 5w-30 but they changed it to 0w-40 at some time. I have that in bulk at work so it was a good change. My Prius is supposed to run only 0w-20 but if you read a non US owners manual you can run up to 10w-40 if it’s hot and you’re running the car hard. We go on trips out into the desert frequently where we’ll be pushing 80mph for hours in 100+ degree heat so it’s been getting 0w-30.
My old Silverado 5.3 developed a ticking around 350k. I went from the recommended 5w-30 to 10w-40 and it stopped. Also slowed the oil leak too.
I have an 07 Aveo with 300,000 on it and it still doesn't use a quart between 10,000 mile oil changes.
My LT1 Camaro, wet sump, takes 10.
My wife drove a 2017 volt for four years and 60k miles and loved every moment of it. Regularly got 61 miles to a charge, had one oil change in four years as the total maintenance cost, and could still drive across the country if we wants with no charging needs.
Been using this is 5w30 on my chevy cruze foe the past 200k miles and changing every 10-15k miles. Great oil .
