It was $100 for the BMW cabin filter. After 20 min of trying to squeeze in to do it, I would say, that $90 was worth it for the cabin air filter.
Have had my 2015 535i X drive for 3 months now and I love it. Was looking at B58 for a while, and decided to go with the one I have now because it had 80k miles, was in great shape and had good maintenance records.
BMW M240i - it got an oil change, and a cabin filter. Continues to plug along just fine.
I’ve had my i4 for over two years. Maintenance costs have been $0 but BMW gives you three years of free maintenance. When I have brought it in, all they do is inspect the car, top off wiper fluid and replace the in cabin air filter.
I changed the micro filter, cabin filter, etc.. The smell seems to be strongest with heat set to 78 and when I am slowing down or coming to a stop and the auto engine shut off turns on and off.
Production markings on the side of the filter as shown in the pics above indicate that this is a BMW OEM part. I can’t imagine that Halfords would be installing genuine BMW filters. There’s no way that they changed this.
That never got replaced, the filters still look white after 2-3 years in the cars I work on, this looks 5-10 years old.
That was not replaced in the last 5000mi. If you have an itemized invoice, I would check to see if it states what part was installed.
Same issue in my 2019 M3. Replace the cabin air filter. Solved.
I've had to replace the cabin filter 2-3 times because of this problem. At first the smell would go away after replacing the filter, but eventually returns, usually when spring rolls around.
