The shop I went with installed a Thinkware iVOLT BAB-50 to complement my VIOFO A229 Plus Front/Back Camera
Toyota sells an OEM camera that goes to the left of the big radar box behind the mirror. They don't have a rear camera in the US, the OEM is expensive and not the highest quality, and the app is klunky. I had THINKWARE U3000 Pro front and rear installed in CSL. These have excellent quality and are the best parking mode for recording someone hitting your car without draining the battery. Viofo A329 is a very highly rated option.
I went with the latest mini version from VIOFO. For the price, it felt like a great value: 4K 30fps + HDR and good image quality.
The brand I recommend is thinkware, and they have a pretty handy OBDII plug option which makes the wiring portion of it friendly. Including for parking mode. The U3000 is a great unit.
Purchased a Thinkware 3000Pro and having it installed tomorrow on my new A5. I used to own the Thinkware F770 (front and rear) on my A6 and loved it.
I went with the Viofo a229 Pro 3 channel. Front camera is 4k, quality is amazing. You can connect to the camera and download clips directly to an app. It also has a parking mode.
I have a Viofo A119 Mini v2. Works great and was easy to install.
I got a Viofo A119 Mini 2. Starvis 2 sensor means much better video quality at low light.
A dashcam someone overpaid for. I think I compared the Toyota unit to an aftermarket one and for half the price you can get a good Viofo A129 with rear camera and the hardwire accessory kit.
The first camera I had was the Viofo 229. The car battery would drain where my car wouldn't start unless I used my battery starter.
