Mann, Mahle, and Hengst are the three biggest BMW OE air filter manufacturers. They all make a good filter.
I’ve put 125,000 miles on my 350Z and 120,000 miles on my G37S using nothing but $7–$10 Fram air filters—never had a single issue.
OEM filters will generally run you $30-$60, you can get cheaper ones like Fram as well.
Can confirm Fram CF12772 fits. I have replaced mine twice.
That one doesn’t look too bad and it’s a Mann filter. They’re your go to brand for air, cabin, oil and fuel filters…… they make them for bmw, bag and a bunch of others.
Just get the same MANN C22018 filter... It's $20
I swear these FRAM filters have a thicker gasket than others. The OEM filters I could pull out and get back in no problem, once I changed to FRAM, it felt nearly impossible to get flush. I got one side perfect and fought with the other one for too long, ended up giving up on it and left the small gap. The gasket is keeping it airtight, it just doesn't look good.
I swapped the engine air filter for a new one. Could the Fram filter be more restrictive than the OEM one?
And it's a shitty Fram filter.
I don't know i don't use fram on my personal veh , I see what they do on my work truck cave in hard to get off and air filter sucks in to the airbox and cause the check air filter to come on the dash so I call them cheap man's filters .
