I have a few really old Craftsman wrenches exactly like you have. I checked them against a torque sensor on a machine at work and they were quite good even though at least one looked like crap.

I bought a used gedore torcofix 10-100nm( 7.3 ft-lbs to 73), really versatile
Does everything on a bike and alot on a car
I have a craftsman and it has never done me wrong. Not to mention lifetime since Lowes own craftsman now. It's a simple walk in and swap type thing. Mine is 1/2 drive and goes up to 350 lbs I do believe.
I swear by my split beam torque wrenches. They don't go out of calibration and they're a lot cheaper than digital torque wrenches.
I use torque wrenches since it gives me peace of mind. You’ll probably run into jobs where it’s more important to get the torque right anyway so good to have em. I do find myself surprised by how light feeling some torque specs are on small bolts. I would have definitely overtorqued going by feel.
I bought a cheap one from the auto parts store... I then compared the TQ setting with a snap on one a buddy had. They were the same. This one will work... I have one.
I do own some torque wrenches and use them. But I don't think they're nessicary or even a good idea on some parts of the bike.
The snap-on digital torque wrench i use registers torque applied while using it, and through the final 90 degree turns i tested the torque values for all 4 stretch mount bolts. All of them were different. After the final 90, one bolt hit 80ftlb, one 72ftlb, 75ftlb, and one only 65ftlb. Doesnt seem consistant at all in my eyes.
I have the 1/2 version of the Craftsman its basically now permanently stuck at around 100 ft lbs because i can not adjust the torque on it accurately anymore.
Locking down my 1 tons lug nuts this morning with the Craftsman Professional 1/2" torque wrench, 130 lbs, then BOOM.
