OEM BMW Crankshaft position sensor

I also swapped in a new water pump, new fuel filter, new oil filter, and flushed the entire system. Oil change, transmission fluid swap, and I put a new crankshaft position sensor on, as it was having issues starting.

Pros: new crankshaft position sensor
Cons: starting issues
Vehicle: BMW

Crankshaft position sensor. Replaced 2x on 2017, both times similar symptoms. The last time I also replaced cam sensors, coils and plugs (had just hit 100k). Did it all for roughly $125 and about an hour. Oil consumption is down, mileage is up and running much smoother.

Pros: running much smoother
Vehicle: Hyundai Elantra
Mileage: 160934 km

OEM Volkswagen Crankshaft position sensor

Anyway I have a 2014 VW Passat 1.8L tsi. And I finally changed out the crankshaft position sensor that was really hard to get to under the motor and behind the oil pan. Once that was changed and learned everything works fine now!

Pros: everything works fine now
Cons: really hard to get to
Vehicle: Volkswagen Passat

Since all of this began happening I changed the camshaft position sensor and crankshaft position sensor around the same time. After changing the cam it still had a no start once but after changing the crank position sensor it's been flawless. Leading me to believe the crank sensor was the issue.

Pros: flawless after changing sensor
Cons: no start once
Vehicle: Volkswagen Jetta

Hella Crankshaft position sensor

Rating 4.5

BMW dealer is 90$ per sensor. I’ve chosen to go with Hella as they’re a strong electronics bmw manufacturer and were only 30$ per sensor. That was a big enough difference for *me* to buy Hella and if it failed then I’d go to BMW OE for 90$ and 2 hours replacing it.

So far I’ve gotten 5500 miles with the Hella sensor and there’s be no issue

Pros: no issues, cost effective
Vehicle: BMW
Mileage: 5500 km

Bremi Crankshaft position sensor

Rating 2.5

Fuel pressure regulator replaced with Bosch, CPS is Bremi, Bosch was not available. Voltage to cps is 2.5v, is that normal? I read that for many vw models it is 2.5, in most cases it is 5v however. Also when moving metal object close to CPS voltage reading does not change on all 2 sensors. It would throw P0321 code after many attempts to start a car.

Cons: voltage reading unchanged
Vehicle: Volkswagen
