Sounds a bit lock rod knock? At the same time from my experience when the water pumps start going bad on Subarus it sounds 1:1 like rod knock. Please get your timing belt and water pump looked at.

Trust me, I've been through that mistake before. Definitely replace it & definitely go with genuine Subaru water pump not a kit pump.
Price for the belt + pump kit looks perhaps a little high, but as others have said, you pay more for the convenience of warranty on the service. BUT I would hope for that price it is a genuine or reputable kit, especially the water pump. I just had to replace my non genuine water pump after about 5000km due to a bad bearing, which was not at all worth the price difference for just going genuine to start with.
I was a Subaru Dealer trained engine specialist for many years, DO NOT under any circumstances use a non Subaru water pump. All of the aftermarket ones are complete shit, I have lost count of how many aftermarket water pumps I have had to replace because they have all failed within 20k miles.
I went through two in my 06 Impreza across 326,000km ....
