Lucas Engine oil

I have a 2012 gmc terrain 2.4l currently at 202k. I’ve used Lucas oil and restore and protect Valvoline oil the last 50k. Still runs like a gem with 177-182-179-175 compression cylinders 1-4. Used to be 155-149-144-168 before I started using both these oils

Pros: runs like a gem
Mileage: 202000 km

Lucas Power steering fluid

Rating 5.0

LUCAS power steering fluid is great. The spray on wax is magic. After it sits a week, it seems even better. Aluminum too. The gear oil is great.

Pros: power steering fluid is great

Lucas Engine oil

I exclusively have used Lucas oil for my sportster motor for 5 years. The bottle looks cool, that's it. Full synthetic oil, no frills, cheap, and easy to get.

Pros: cheap, easy to get
Cons: no frills

Lucas Alternator

I found a Lucas replacement on Euro Car Parts that says it fits my car and has 3yr warranty. I checked the specs and it's actually rated at 235 Amps.

Pros: 3yr warranty, higher amperage
Vehicle: Ford Galaxy

Lucas Fuel additives

Driving from the Alabama - Tennessee line to the gulf coast, most downhill I mind you - predominantly interstate, I have never gotten more than 23. This was with little to no load, Nitrogen tires, Fresh air filter & oil, premium fuel, & Lucas fuel tx additive.

Pros: premium fuel, fresh air filter
Cons: never gotten more than 23
Vehicle: Toyota

Lucas Engine oil
Cool-Tap-391
  • Engine noise:
Rating 3.0

Lucas OS works great. It's some amazing stuff, BUT. Do not go over your oil change intervals. Once the Lucas additive starts breaking down it turns to a nasty varnish. Went 7k using synthetic amsoil z-rod and Lucas OS, on a new rebuilt 4.0l. Lost a lifter and ate up the cam lobe.

Pros: amazing stuff
Cons: turns to nasty varnish
Mileage: 7000 km

Lucas Brake caliper
ATBB
  • Smell/heat:
  • Uneven wear:
Rating 2.0

Rear Lucas calipers always worked ok-ish after each "fix". But that was never a long term solution. Worked fine for a month, sometimes a year or two. Just a never ending dragging story, uneven pads wear, pads cut at an angle, heat induced accelerated rust of disc and back plate.

Pros: worked ok-ish after fix
Cons: never a long term solution
Mileage: 430000 km
