Bought a Delphi knock sensor in late 2023 to replace failed stock sensor my 2004 Honda Element. I assumed Delphi was a trusted brand. The sensor did not solve the ECU code, even after clearing the code several times, and reseting the ECU. The CEL would reappear immediately or within driving a half mile. Assuming is was a hard to find wiring issue, I drove the vehicle with the Check Engine Light on for a year and a half. Recently, a 26-year Honda/Acura mechanic told me the 2003 and 2004 Elements are famous for failed knock sensors and I should use a genuine Honda part (from junkyard on 2005-later engine) or new from dealer. Skeptical, I bit the bullet and paid the price for the genuine Honda sensor. Cleared the CEL, installed the sensor, and have now driven over 600 miles with no sign of bad knock sensor. Lesson learned.
