I\u2019m a BMW Master Tech. The N52 is not reliable. Myth spread around the internet. It\u2019s just more reliable than the engines BMW released around 2006. I do thank all of you N52 owners for all the money. So easy to work on and they leak oil every 50k from either the valve cover, ofhg, and/or oil pain.

Buy a new valve cover. If it isn't cracked now, it will be soon, and/or the PCV diaphragm will fail.
I have had one the ongoing maintenance is the worst of any vehicles I've ever had constant oil leaks valve covers and intake great to drive fun car but it will eat you out if house and hime
However it still drives amazing..besides normal maintenance (oil changes, tires, battery, spark plugs & coils)
I had to do the valve cover
Proactively replaced coolant tank and hose
Front right axle and wheel hub bearing
The past 3 n52 BMW valve covers have been a nightmare to remove / install.
Aluminum valve covers are even worse. Never ever use one.
I had mine replaced at the dealership 5 or 6 yrs ago they were in there for the gasket and went ahead and put a new valve cover on as well. It’s held up perfectly not a drop of oil lost.
Valve cover leak might be a warped valve cover, for which I believe there may be an aftermarket solution.
