Best Windshield for Volkswagen Phaeton

Figured I should close out this thread by saying I did order the windshield after spending some time with the dealer and their computer. They told me no returns on it if I am wrong about it being the windshield. So $975 (before install costs) later it came in this week and is indeed the windshield.

Hello, I just had the windshield on my 2006 W12 replaced and it has the IR/A stamp.

Hi all, I finally had the IR windshield fitted. As expected, so far so good. What engaged my curiosity is that the bottom right corner windshield data shows IR/A, rather than only IR.

Thanks. The one with the purple windshield is less sunny inside. I rarely need to use my sun visors.

I am still happy with the work and was covered by insurance.

My replacement screen Tech from the windscreen specialist company knew exactly what to do, had reference to the correct instructions and his company sourced the exact replacement screen, from VW stock against the car's VIN.

Here in Canada, the price for a standard Phaeton windshield (one that is tinted, but does not have the metallic infra-red resistant film in it) is about $600, which is pretty typical for a full size car or truck windshield.

Work was done at Carglass Spaanse Polder. First of all, they couldn't mount the rainsensor. Would do it later... When driving the car home, the most terrible lights went on and off, the car stopped, would not start anymore and had to be towed to the Dealer. The cause of this all was a (earth?) cable that had been cut when removing the windshield.

Hi, the Autobarn in Evanston has been great. And while the new windshield's been installed now, it is quite clear that it was not replaced with the infra-red glass.
