OEM Toyota Brake pads

Just did the brakes on my 1994 4runner. Discs were smooth, no rust or grooves. Way above spec, the pads must have been soft. I put in some much better quality pads and did not turn them.

Pros: better quality pads
Cons: pads must have been soft

OEM Toyota Brake pads

I’ve had my Toyota 4Runner for 13 years now. Never needed to change my brakes or encountered catastrophic engine failures. Maybe lucky but per Toyota, the 4Runner is rated for 22 MPG on the highway and I’m getting 23.5 MPG.

Pros: good gas mileage

Akebono Brake pads

Akebono have always served me well. Felt slightly better than OEM IMO. I’ve also tried EBC Greenstuff’s…brake feel was just ok and they wore very quickly (less than 20k miles).

Pros: better than OEM, good feel
Cons: EBC wore quickly
Mileage: 20000 km
Part number: ACT976, ACT606
