I've been running the NGK since I'm pretty sure they are the OE manufacturer. Subaru is charging crack prices for those coils.
I would get NGK, Denso or Motorcraft coils though, you don't want to cheap out on critical parts like this.
I have NGK coils and plugs on my B14NEH. No issues at all.
Get a Denso or NGK coil. You can try an auto parts store coil (do NOT get one from Amazon) and if it solves it, order the Denso or NGK.
Stick with OEM from VW. They are the best choice
I installed ngk coils originally and they lasted the longest ( around 8k miles before the first one went ).
Honestly it just sounds like a bad coil on 1.
My first car was a Volkswagen Passat. I was on a budget and got a good deal on a really nice car. It was a dream to ride, except when everything kept going wrong. I went through multiple ignition coils, the car caught fire (bad coil, again) and had thousands in damage. Beyond that, getting tires balanced wasn\u2019t a simple job. Everywhere needed to special order shims from Germany because that\u2019s the only way a Volkswagen tire could be balanced.
NGKs product quality has diminished but a brand new set of 6 in and 2 of the six aren't working after about 2 months
NGK gave me troubles on one of our old LR3s
