I agree that learning how to change cabin and engine air filters yourself is great idea - it's really easy if you're good with your hands. Definitely YouTube it. 'Sakura' brand (eBay) is inexpensive - don't be put off by the fact they're made in Thailand - they're fine.

Pros: inexpensive, easy to change
Recently bought a bunch of Sakura air, oil and cabin filters for my VW Passat from TWL. Less than half the price of supercheap and delivered in a couple days
Pros: less than half price
Vehicle:
Volkswagen Passat
I have had the same issue and also the RYCO filters - they do not fit. I use the Sakura Oil Filter - EO-1103 on special order from Supercheap Auto
Cons: do not fit
Part number: EO-1103
It comes with #100 oil for the shock absorbers in the box, but you should know that once you fill them, they leak and after a few days there is nothing left in them.
Cons: leaks, oil loss
