15 years, 260k miles @500whp+, lots and lots and lots of track mileage with a 9000rpm limiter. They got brittle and started cracking from heat and pressure.

Pros: going strong, high mileage
Cons: brittle, cracking from heat
Mileage: 260000 km

Along with the diaphgragm valve (see the links above) you'll need to replace all the gaskets you disturb, namely the valve cover gasket (part no. 03H 103 483 C) and the gaskets that seal the upper intake manifold to the lower intake manifold (4 x 03H 133 237 G and 2 x 03H 133 237 J).

Vehicle: Volkswagen Passat
Part number: 03H 103 483 C

My main issue w/ the valve cover leak was a bad gasket. I had time to change it not too long ago, and so far no signs of external leaks on driveway or engine.

Pros: no external leaks
Cons: bad gasket

Finally got it looked at......... Was getting spark plugs changed and turns out that there was a valve cover gasket leak which was leaking onto the coils AND to the spark plugs causing the misfire.

Pros: coils at no charge
Cons: oil leaking onto coils
Vehicle: Volkswagen Phaeton
