I replaced mine with a Hella sensor when I did my pan, no issues so far. The only difference between them appears to be the BMW logo, which is ridiculous.

Pros: no issues so far

Replaced the oil level sensor on my M3 with a Hella brand one that was over $100 cheaper than the oem one. When I go under the car to actually change it out I notice the new one is the exact same sensor but the BMW emblem is sanded off.

Pros: cheaper than OEM
Vehicle: BMW

For example I have a 2017 GTI and the oil level sensor is broken. It is $300 to replace. Technically it is pretty cheap to replace if I do it myself but I am lazy. Little things like oil level sensors are why some people call VWs picky.

Pros: cheap to replace myself
Cons: sensor is broken, $300
Vehicle: Volkswagen
